"Voice To Text Dictation soon on to the Desktop Version of Google Drive"

According to the blog posted by "Marques Brownlee" in google+, voice to text dictation is coming to the desktop version of Google Docs. While Android has featured speech to text as part of the standard keyboard for several years now, the option has rather curiously not been a part of the desktop / web version of Google Docs (now Google Drive). Apparently, this is now changing.

Google Chrome has a built-in speech recognition system, but you can only use it in certain places. Dictation is a webapp that uses Chrome's speech recognition engine, but allows you to dictate much larger chunks of text right inside a simple webapp.

From the Dictation webapp, you can either click the microphone, or hit Ctrl+Shift+. (period) to activate dictation mode. Then, you simply need to start speaking. Dictation recognizes "new line" to create a new paragraph, and "delete everything" to start over. Once your text is dictated, you can hop right in and correct any mistakes right inside the app. When you're done you can copy and paste the text over to your favorite text editing program. If you've ever wanted to play around with the idea of dictation, but didn't want to spend money on specialized software, Dictation is a free alternative that works well.

There was no information provided as to when we could expect this feature to roll out, though soon-ish seems like a good bet.Since there is no official announcement about the update to Google Drive as yet, no further details about the service are available. The purported images only showcase the voice-assist feature, which is likely to be the same as seen on different Google services (and the Android version of Google Drive).

If this app is implemented and used successfully, then users can save their time in typing as voice dictation is much time saving operation than typing text rather.

If you are interested in using this app, you need to wait for some more days, as using a "interesting new feature is always anticipating".
