Forbes today has released the list of the companies which are hiring right now.
To provide a snapshot of which companies have the most positions open throughout the country, Forbes consulted with employment search site Indeed.com. The companies listed here had the site’s greatest number of postings for jobs in the U.S. that pay $50,000 per year or more, as of March 25th.
Many of the positions available require data or information technology backgrounds, and many are concentrated in and around major cities like New York and Seattle.
Still, Tara Sinclair, economist for Indeed.com, says she’s observed steady hiring across the U.S. in a number of significant fields.
“We’re seeing 80% of Indeed job seekers looking for work in a different field than their current one,” says Sinclair. “With raises decreasing or in some cases not happening within companies, salary and career growth become major contributing factors as people look for new jobs in this constantly fluctuating market.”
Indeed.com specifies that the picture offered does not reflect a precise number of available jobs. An opening can be listed in more than one place and can remain online for some time after it’s filled. Nevertheless, the numbers do offer a strong, broad gauge of the companies with the most open jobs across the country today.
Topping the list is financial services provider JPMorgan Chase , which has 2,834 jobs paying $50,000 a year or more currently listed on Indeed.com. The global giant is seeking to fill a range of positions, including Audit Manager, Compliance Analyst, Technology Recruiter, and SQL Application Developer – Financial Crimes. Positions at the firm are concentrated in the New York-area but available throughout the U.S.
Second on the list is PricewaterhouseCoopers . The audit and consulting firm has 2,768 positions listed on Indeed.com, including Mergers and Acquisitions Tax Director, Quality Management Transformation Manager, and Human Resources Talent Manager. Like JPMorgan Chase, jobs are available primarily in and around New York, but open positions are listed in cities including Chicago, Houston, and Mclean, Virginia.
The third in the list is Amazon, which has 2,508 openings right now.
For job-hunters in the Pacific Northwest, household name Amazon, which topped a list compiled at this time last year, comes in third. With 2,508 openings currently listed on Indeed.com, Amazon is searching for an Ad Ops Campaign Manager, a Principle Product Manager for the Kindle Fire, and a Business Intelligence Engineer for Amazon Mobile.
Further down the list are companies like Lockheed Martin, Apple, Target, Microsoft, Sears, IBM, Deloitte, and HP, all of which have more than a thousand listings for jobs that pay $50,000 or more.
