"5 Deadliest Flight Disasters in the History"

1.Tenerife Airport Disaster (1977)

The Tenerife disaster, which happened on 27 March 1977, remains the accident with the highest number of airliner passenger fatalities. 583 people died when a KLM Boeing 747 attempted to take-off without clearance, and collided with a taxiing Pan Am 747 at Los Rodeos Airport on the island of Tenerife, Spain. Both aircraft were destroyed. There were no survivors from the KLM aircraft; 61 of the 396 passengers and crew on the Pan Am aircraft survived. Pilot error was the primary cause as the KLM captain thought he had clearance for takeoff due to a communication misunderstanding, which were believed to have played a crucial role in the events leading up to the accident. The disaster also led to the concept of Crew Resource Management, and gave less experienced flight crew more leeway to challenge their captains if they believed something was not correct.

2.Japan Airlines Flight 123 (1985)

Japan Airlines Flight 123 left Tokyo en route to Osaka on Aug. 12, 1985, when a catastrophic mechanical failure involving the plane’s rear pressure bulkhead sent the Boeing 747SR soaring into two ridges of Mount Takamagahara. All 15 crew and 505 of the 509 passengers died, resulting in the deadliest single-aircraft accident in history with a total of 520 deaths. The plane descended quickly from 23,900 feet to 6,000 feet, and 32 minutes later, crashed into Osutaka Ridge. making it the deadliest single-aircraft disaster in the world. Only four passengers survived.

3.Charkhi Dadri Mid-Air Collision (1996)

The world’s deadliest mid-air collision occurred on Nov. 12, 1996, over the village of Charkhi Dadri, west of New Delhi. Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 763 had just departed New Delhi and Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907 was arriving when they crashed, killing all 349 people on both flights.

The Kazakhstani pilots were found to lack English language skills and were relying entirely on their radio operator for communications with air traffic control.  Indira Gandhi International Airport, meanwhile, used the same corridor for arrivals and departures, but did not have secondary surveillance radar to produce exact readings of aircraft altitudes. Both of these things changed in the aftermath, and the Civil Aviation Authorities in India made it mandatory that all aircraft flying into or out of the country be equipped with an Airborne Collision Avoidance System.

4.Gol Airlines 1907(2006)

A Boeing 737-8EH operated by Brazilian Gol Transportes AĆ©reos broke up during flight after it collided with a business jet on Sept. 29, 2006, killing all 154 people traveling from Manaus to Rio de Janeiro. In its investigation, the NTSB pointed its finger at Brazilian air traffic controllers who essentially directed the two planes to “operate in opposite directions on the same airway at the same altitude.” However, a report released by Brazil’s aviation safety organization said that the American pilots flying the private jet were partly to blame for “apparently turning off cockpit equipment meant to alert other planes to its presence.”

5.Air France Flight 447(2009)

The last plane to mysteriously disappear before the Malaysia Airlines flight was and Airbus A330 operated by Air France, which was flying from Rio de Janeiro to Paris on June 1, 2009 the Airbus A330-203 airliner serving the flight crashed into the Atlantic Ocean, resulting in the deaths of all 216 passengers and 12 aircrew. The accident was the deadliest in the history of Air France. It was also the Airbus A330's second and deadliest fatal accident, and its first while in commercial passenger service. The investigation of Air France 447 took a considerably long time because the plane’s black boxes were not recovered from the ocean until May 2011.

These deadliest disasters shows the reasons why the flight crashes happened. So, don't worry to step into a plane, as they are the quickest medium of transport. And all the Airlines take the responsibility for the safety of passengers. However, the disasters might occur in the worst cases like the above.
